Given the facts raised above in the maintenance of the public secondary
school buildings, there is an urgent need for quick decision making and
upgrade of the deteriorated school buildings in order to have befitting study
environments
This is not possible without an up-to-date information about the present
condition of those buildings and the perspectives of the users
There is the need to investigate the users’ perspective of maintenance
policies and strategies that are put in place for the public secondary school
buildings
Lack of maintenance culture by the government was responsible for the rot and
dilapidation of structures at Government College Umuahia, which will be used as
our case study
